February 2016

Oh February, how did you come and go so fast?!  Robert and I have been soaking up all the date nights we can get since my parents have been in town and the girls have really enjoyed it as well.  It's so nice to have the extra help.

Mila says the funniest things and it's so great being able to communicate with her like an actual person.  She loves stuffed animals, letters and spelling her name.  She is obsessed with Frozen and wants to watch it a million times a day.  She wants to have "her songs" on in the car so it's VeggieTales Pandora on the reg.  She has really started throwing fits and will huff and puff, escalating her voice if I don't react to her drama; definitely living up to the whole "threenager" thing!  She has started collecting rocks, but not in a hobby type of way, more of as a gift giving/favorite thing type of way.  So now we have rocks all over the house that I am constantly worried Nellie is going to choke on. Rocks and money: Mila's two favorite things.

Every morning on the way to preschool we drive by a fire station and Mila says good morning to the firetruck (or gets upset if the door isn't open and the firetruck is "still sleeping!") Our mom's group arranged a visit to a local fire station and all the kids loved it, although I heard it would have been better geared towards a little older of an age group.  Regardless, Mila had an amazing time and has been raving about firetrucks and firemen, much to Robert's annoyance.

Nellie is still as crazy, happy and energetic as usual.  She has always been a squealer but has recently started screaming all of the time; and not just a little scream but a high pitch, ear ringing, it-could-not-possibly-be-any-louder scream.  She does not discriminate between screaming when she's happy, mad, frustrated or excited; it's a big scream for all around here. She has started saying bye ("byeeeeeee"), yells "daaaaad! dad!" even when dad is nowhere around and "up" when she wants you to hold her (and it sounds like "bup," which is super cute).  She had a rough February and has cut through one-three of her molars but I can't get an exact count because she snaps her mouth shut every time I try to look.

She loves to clean up and will put her shoes away and clothes in the dirty clothes bin if you remind her where they are and she will "help" you get her dressed now by pushing her arms through the sleeves and lifting her legs for pants.  She loves "This Little Piggy" and loves to point to her toes when you ask where her piggys are.  She makes a tickle sound ("durkadurkadurka") when she pretends to tickle you and she still wakes up at 6am on the dot every morning.

Mila is still enjoying soccer at preschool but can't wait to "play with the boys" through Parks and Rec in April.

I had signed her up for a cooking class at preschool that was really cute.  They cooked a different meal for six weeks and she learned how to set the table.  She seemed to enjoy at first but then told me not to sign her up for again because "I just want to play with my friends."  However, in the last class they made brownie pops so she told me it was okay if I signed her up again :)

Nellie started a gymnastics class with Tori and Andi, although I am pretty sure that Tori is counting down the days until it's over because she spends the whole 45min chasing two toddlers around.  Tori said that Nellie is the craziest one in the class (surprise) because she is one of the few walkers and loves climbing.  There's organized circle time at the beginning of class and Tori said she gave up trying to get Nellie to sit still, she just lets her roam around and do her own thing.

Tori is so great and is always doing something fun with the girls.  They love to go to the aquarium and the zoo and it's even better now that Andi has started walking too.

Mila and Nellie have really started playing together in the last month.  There are lots of screams, yells and tears because one usually has what the other wants but there are rare occasions where they play blocks together or where Nellie lets Mila push her in the bean bag, tackle her on the ground or roll her around on the rug. Their little giggles together are the greatest thing I have ever hear.

First trip to the ice cream truck!  Mila's mind was BLOWN.

This month I traveled alone (!) to a bachelorette party in Scottsdale while this handsome man

held down the fort at home.  It was an absolute blast to see such good friends and celebrate the bride to be but there were also mixed feelings of guilt and missing the fam.  So so glad I went though and so happy I had something so wonderful to come home to.

While I was gone Mila had a sleepover at Kira's house and then went to the beach. I was certain she would miss me tremendously and cry the entire time I was gone; it was basically the exact opposite.  Nothing like a bite of humble stew pie (<--- ha! totally had to google if it was stew or pie) to put you in your place!

Back home and back to the grind, right where I wanna be.
