Happy 7 months Mila!

7 Month Stats

Weight: 18.5 pounds (set)

Length: 26 inches (est)

Eating: You are trying all kinds of new food.  Just this week you tried chicken for the first time but you weren't really a fan.  You're having solids at lunch and dinner and I am considering adding fruit in for breakfast so you get used to eating three times a day. In addition, you are still taking a 6oz bottle five times a day.

Bedtime: Dad has actually been putting you to bed lately because, for some reason, you go down inasecond for him, whereas for me, you fuss and cry and won't sleep. yeah, we're taking the easy way out :)

Awake: You will sit and play on your blanket with your toys for quite a while by yourself but you love climbing all over people and touching their faces.  We can now leave you alone to play on your own for a short amount of time while we get stuff done.  Don't get me wrong, though, you'd much rather be with us than by yourself.

Naps: You still fight your naps but once you're asleep you now sleep for one to two hours (more for your dad, less for me).

Diapers: still in Size 2 Pampers Swaddlers still.

Clothes: you are still wearing 6mo clothes and 6-9mo sleepers, although the sleepers are getting a little snug!

Favorites: you still love your Fisher Price Laugh & Learn puppy but you keep busy with all of your toys.  You love going on walks and swimming lessons, which has made you start loving bathtime even more as well.

Development: you have two teeth now and you're much better at sitting on your own.  Dad is teaching you how to hold on to the side of the crib but it doesn't seem you're that interested in standing on your own yet...which is okay with us!

if you look REALLY closely you can see the two teeth...I've tried to take a picture a thousand times...this is as good as it gets!

Dear Mila,

We celebrated your first Easter this month. It was a great day; we had people over to our house and it couldn't have gone better. I was worried that you would be scared of the Easter bunny but you could've cared less and were just as smiley as usual!

This picture of Robert's grandpa feeding you is especially precious to me because both of  my grandpas died before I was born so I never got to know either of them. It melts my heart to see you with your great grandpa.

Nana caught your rolling on video so I was finally able to see you roll from your back to your front. You still get frustrated when doing it but have realized that you can reach what you want when you start rolling. Dad says you've rolled back-to-stomach-to-back a couple times but you haven't yet realized it will get you places so we're still safe...for now :)

The second night after your 6 month shots, while at a sleepover at Nana and Papa's, I woke up and you felt extremely hot.  Poor thing got a 102.2 fever but you were still in good spirits and the fever broke by morning.

You had your first swimming lessons this month and you absolutely love them. After only three lessons your teacher has moved you up to the intermediate class; I always knew you were an overachiever!

You had your first ride in a shopping cart (at Target, with Nana, of course)...

...and went to happy hour with mom, dad, Nana and Papa.

Now that you can flip over you have started sleeping on your stomach. Not only do you do this but you also scoot all the way to the corner of the bed and bury your head in the sheet. It is terrifying to me; therefore, we check on you all throughout the day/night, but you're always fine, thank goodness.

Not only do you scoot in your crib but also all over the floor when you are sitting. I don't know if you realize it's getting you places or if you just get excited and the scooting is a side effect.

Dad and I took you to the park this weekend and tried out the baby swing.  You we're that impressed but you didn't fuss either.

Aunt Sissy got here just in time to celebrate your 7 month birthday!

I absolutely love how you reach out for people now; but I especially love it when you are playing with your toys and I reach for you drop everything in a second to reach back out to me to pick you up.   I know it won't be like that for long so I am enjoying it while it lasts.  You are such a joy, little love.  I don't think we can remember our life being complete before you.

Swimming Lessons

Two weeks ago I signed Mila up for swim lessons and today was FINALLY time for her to go. She woke up well rested from her nap and was ready to swim.

There were only three kids in the class and Mila was the youngest. They started with doing "kicks" from one end of the pool to the other.

Next they had the babies sit up on the ledge and sang Humpty Dumpty and when he had his great fall the babies "fell" into the water and went under.  Mila didn't even flinch!!  Here's a video of it:

 

I think Daddy had as much fun as Mila did :)  One thing I didn't get on video or a picture of was Mila floating on her back for a count of ten.

This is right after Mila went under water; see what I mean, she's a natural!

The last activity they did was to "walk" across a floating thing and "jump" into the water. As you can see from this video, she loved it.

 

At the end of the class the teacher came over and said that Mila did GREAT. She said for most babies they cry the entire time during their first class and are very upset. She said Mila did very well at everything and she would likely be moved up to the intermediate class after just a couple lessons. Overachiever!
