Happy 5 Months!

Happy 5 months Mila!

5 Month Stats

Weight: 17 pounds (est) (82%)
Length: 26 inches (est) (82%)

Eating: you are still eating every four hours and taking down about 5oz bottles every time, which totals 5 bottles a day.  I also started feeding you some solids every night; I mix a little rice cereal with formula and throw in some baby food.  So far we have only tried vegetables (sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, green beans and squash) and I am pretty sure peas are your favorite.  Eating at this age is really more for fun and getting you used to the spoon; you are definitely having a good time with it!

Bedtime: because of your horrid napping you go to bed between 6:45pm and 7pm every night. You still are pretty easy to put down but you are getting much more curious as to everything that is going on around you.  I have stopped dreamfeeding you because you are always waking up at least once during the night; I actually think this has helped and we are all getting more sleep.

Awake: Now that you are sitting a little bit you are having more fun with your toys.  You also can't stop looking around at everything, you are such a curious little baby!

Naps: You are such a curious baby that you have not only stopped napping but you have started fighting sleep as well.  Most times for naps you fall asleep only after you are so exhausted you can't possibly stay away any longer.  Once you are asleep you are still only sleeping 25-45min at a time (should be 2 hours!).

Diapers: you are in Size 2 Pampers Swaddlers. Although, you've been rocking jean diapers for the past couple weeks!

Clothes: you still fit into your 3mo clothes and are also wearing 3-6mo as well.  We have had to move you up to 6mo footed sleepers so you have room for your little toesies.

Favorites: talking, looking in the mirror, watching anything Roscoe does, crying when left alone in a room by yourself, jumping in both your doorway jumper and your jumper.

Development: you have found your toes, rolled over from stomach to back and are able to push up on one arm (but only when you feel like it).  You can sit on your own for a few seconds before jerking backwards and you are able to grab things that we hold out to you, as well as moving items from hand to hand.

Little Miss Mila,

Oh how you have grown up this month!  You hit a couple of milestones and even started eating solids once a day and, boy, are you having fun with it.  Originally I hadn't planned on starting you at four months but that's how the cards fell so we will roll with it. Right now I think peas are your favorite but we are still trying all the veggies out before we move on to fruit.

Your Auntie Whit came in town and finally got to meet you!  It was a very short trip but I'm pretty sure she fell in love with you even more so than she already was.

<3

You found your feet one day while laying on the bed while I was doing laundry.  By the end of the month you were doing the "happy baby" and grabbing both feet at the same time. It's absolutely adorable.

You started getting super frustrated that you couldn't get them in your mouth.  Too funny.

Not even two days after finding your feet did you roll over from your stomach to your back.  I think this is mostly due to the fact that you despise tummy time.  Now there's no keeping you on your stomach for the full hour of tummy you are supposed to have per day.

We have sort of been trying to sleep train you where we put you in your crib awake in hopes that you will put yourself to sleep.  In reality, this usually consists of dad sticking with it and mom caving in and picking you up and rocking you after 30 seconds of crying.

You have been talking so much more this month and sometimes we wake up in the morning to the sound of you cooing in your crib.  Here's a video of you and mom having girl talk.

You celebrated your first Valentine's Day and I covered you in smooches; Nana says you will roll your eyes at me later when you see this picture but you could not be any cuter!

You have become such a wiggle worm and you hate to stay still.  When I was making dinner one night I had you in your swing, as usual, and when I looked over you were scooching yourself out of the swing! Now we definitely have to make sure we are strapping you in at all times!

Don't worry, I caught it all on video too, you little daredevil.

You and Roscoe are well on your way to becoming best friends.  You don't take any grief from him, though; this may be one of my favorite videos of all time of you sassing him.

You also sat alone for the first time this month! You are still very wobbly and usually end up throwing yourself backwards but it still counts.

your pictures are getting so much more blurry since you won't sit still!

You are finally big enough for your jumpy and you LOVE it!

You had so many visitors this month; in addition to Auntie Whit you also had visits from Aunt Sissy, Nana, Papa, Grandma AND Grandpa. You're one lucky girl!

our little rabbit

I scheduled your six month appointment the other day and it just blows my mind that you are already almost half a year old.  Next month is going to be full of all new experiences, including your first trip to Kansas and meeting two of your great grandmas for the first time.  I can't wait to see what's next.

We love you so so much baby doll.

Love,
Mommy

4.5 Months

My weekly updates have sadly been reduced to bi-weekly, this whole being-a-mom-and-working,-plus-running-a-household thing is keeping me pretty busy. I wonder what people do when they don't have as supportive of a husband as I do (thanks babe!)!

Speaking of, it's taking a little adjusting to Robert moving to nights at work; I think it's exhausting both of us.  Hopefully we will get into a rhythm soon...if not, these 6 months better fly by!

Mila is changing like crazy that last couple of days! I just can't believe it! We started solids after her 4mo appointment and she is really loving it, although I am not sure how much she is actually swallowing.

We (Robert mostly) have been really good about putting her down for tummy time, she's even making it 10-20 minutes at a time without crying!  She first started out with the mini push-up before rolling over from front to back.

Robert's friend, Matt, from work and his wife, Aimee, had their baby, a little girl named Alyssa the day before Mila.  This picture cracks me up because Mila is like a giant compared to Allie! Here Allie weights about 10lbs and Mila weights 15lbs!

The valentine's day outfits have began; I limited myself to only buying three (but I didn't limit YOU from buying any!).

We had out friends Garret and Courtney over for the Super Bowl this past Sunday.  Garret is from the (greater) San Francisco area and bought this cute little jersey for Mila.
