July 2019

We spent 4th of July as we do every year, headed down to the Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade and then hanging out in our front yard BBQing, waiting to do and watch fireworks.  We actually left on July 5th for a camping trip in Temecula so we let the girls stay up super late this year to watch all of the fireworks; they had a blast.

The place we went camping was so great; it was small and didn't have a lot of the "resort" options I like but it was nice the kids had free range of the place; there was a fishing pond and a playground as well as a pool. We didn't get any cell service while we were there, which was actually kind of nice.  We camped with four other families, all with kids, so everyone had a blast.

Both girls finished up swim lessons in July, which is nice for me because they were every day for six weeks!  BUT it was definitely worth it because Nellie is swimming on her own now! Yea Nell!

We had a soccer tournament in Del Mar mid-month and most of the families got a room down there. All the girls had a blast hanging out and swimming and playing so. much. soccer.

Nellie and Mila didn't go to summer camp for the first three weeks of summer due to our family vacation, Vacation Bible School and 4th of July but during those first weeks of school I got a message from the mom of one of Mila's friends at school, Paul.  Apparently the kids made summer bucket lists at school and on Paul's list was to see Nellie at the beach! How cute is that?! Especially since they hadn't seen each other for a while.  We had to make it happen so we arranged a play date at the beach.  They thought it was so funny to see each other out of school.

I ended the month with a quick trip to Denver for Whitney's bachelorette party, which I planned. Everything went off without a hitch and all nine girls got along super well and things couldn't have gone better.  It was so great to celebrate my best friend before she gets married.

What we're looking forward to next month: family vacation to Kauai and adults only trip to Minnesota for Whitney's wedding
