This past weekend my wonderful sister, Erin, and Susan, the mom I used to nanny for, threw me an amazing baby shower in Kansas City. It was more than I could have every imagined and I (well, Mila) received so many presents; I cannot believe how generous everyone was! It was so nice to be able to see all of my close friends and my mom and dad's closest friends and coworkers as well. Dan, the oldest boy I used to nanny for (he will be 20 this year...I started with him when he was 9...so hard to believe!) was there the whole time, taking pictures, helping carry in gifts and serving the guests; it was sooooo nice.
Susan had the shower catered by
Saigon 39, a Vietnamese restaurant in Kansas City. How I did I not know about this place when I lived there?! I could have eaten all of those spring rolls (or maybe I did? I don't really remember seeing anyone else eating any of them....).
My sister had the best shower game (no it wasn't where you smell melted candy bars in diapers and try to guess what they are, phew!). She had everyone choose a baby related "event," write it on an envelope and then include a note to Robert and I that can't be opened until that event occurs. Two of my favorites were "Prom" and "The first time Mila projectile vomits on Robert." It's going to be so awesome to open these little notes every so often as we pass these milestones with Mila. Erin was also going to have everyone play a Price is Right type of game but we ran out of time. My sister is seriously the most creative person I know, good thing
she's a teacher!
A
woman my mom used to work with makes the most
amazing cakes so naturally my sister tapped her to make the goodies for the shower. Does the cake look familiar?? It's the
fabric for Mila's bedding! Believe me it was as delicious as it looked! And check out those cookies and mini cupcakes, aren't they adorable?!
After appetizers and the game we all gathered in the living room to open presents.
Seriously, look at all of these presents! I would say almost 90% of the presents included baby girl outfits, seriously, who can resist a tiny little outfit?! Mila is going to have the best closet on the block! If you look closely in the middle of the picture below, there is a basket full of books. My sister had the idea to have everyone bring a book instead of a card to start Mila her very own library. You can't be a Fisher girl without loving to read!!!
The shower was an amazing success. I have said it before, but I will say it again, I cannot believe how generous everyone was. Mila and I are so lucky to have all of these women in our lives. Unfortunately I didn't get to take a picture with everyone but there's no way I will ever forget this shower.
All of the pictures from the shower can be viewed

Thanks again sissy and Susan for the wonderful shower, you guys are so good to me!!!
