3D/4D Ultrasound

Today we had our 3D/4D ultrasound and it was pretty cool.  And it was pretty special because Courtney was able to come with Robert and I so she was able to see the whole thing too.  I drank a glass of orange juice before I went in to get Mila moving and then we got started. The ultrasound technician started out by saying that the conditons of my uterus were wonderful and we would get really good pictures (I attributed this to taking a trip to the bathroom before the session...).  The whole session only lasted about 16min but we saw so much and SHE was moving out of control. At one point the technician said that my uterus was perfect and that she hoped Robert and I planned on having more kids because it couldn't be any more ideal!; she went on to say that there was lots of room in there for Mila to grow in to so my stomach probably woudn't grow much bigger (sounds great to me!).

When the tech first tried to take the pictures, Mila was being a little feisty and kept shielding her face with her hands.  We could also see her holding onto (and playing with) the cord.

At one point she had her leg pulled up all the way in front of her face...she's holding her foot to her forehead here!  We may have a little gymnast on our hands.

This is probably the clearest picture that we got. The tech said if we get a picture of her sleeping like this after she is born we might win "the contest" (?) because this picture is amazing.  She stares at these things all day so I will take that as a suggestion that my daughter should also be a model.

This is my favorite picture of the bunch because you can see a little smile. She is probably chuckling about all of the comments about her mom's perfect uterus.

You can view all of the photos here but, even better, here's a DVD of all of the pictures, set to the music of Queen (Robert and Court's choice) so you can pretend you were there too.  At the very beginning you can see a little of her movement during a normal, 2D ultrasound.

It really is crazy all of the detail you can see, especially on something that is inside my stomach.

And yes, we already asked about purchasing one of these machines, they cost $65,000! So, it maybe wise to steer clear of our house for the next three months or you may be forced to watch my wedding DVD and Mila's sonogram DVD...on repeat :)
